Food for Life is the world's largest vegetarian/vegan food relief organisation, with programmes in over 60 countries. ISKCON Kanpur has been running its own Food for Life programme — locally called "Annadana" — as part of this global movement.
The programme is based on the Vedic principle of annadana — the gift of food. Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON's Founder-Ācārya, said: "No one within ten miles of a temple should go hungry." This is the driving mission of our programme.
Every Sunday, over 500 guests receive a full sanctified vegetarian meal (prasadam) after the Sunday Feast program. During festivals and emergencies, we scale up distribution significantly.

Prasadam is food first offered to Krishna with love and devotion, and then distributed. It is spiritually purifying and prepared following strict hygiene standards.
There is absolutely no charge for prasadam. It is distributed freely as an act of devotion — "annadana" (gift of food) is considered the highest form of charity.
We serve devotees, visitors, students, the underprivileged, and anyone who comes with an open heart. Sunday Feast hosts 500+ guests every week.
Our Food for Life program is run entirely by volunteers and supported by generous donors. Every participant is part of the service.
